Week 1 of the 2023 Major League Baseball season is now in the books, and Mariners fans are hopeful of the team’s return to post season play. Last season, the Mariners ended the longest drought in post season play of any professional sports team, winning the American League Wild Card before losing to the eventual World Series Champions, the Houston Astros.

Julio Rodriguez, Seattle Mariners

With budding superstar Julio Rodriguez leading the way, the Mariners hope to return to postseason play again this year.

There is plenty of reason for optimism this year. With a loaded pitching rotation and a capable lineup led by AL Rookie of Year Julio Rodriguez, seems likely. But did Seattle shore up their roster well enough in the offseason to overtake the Astros and win the AL West? The short answer would appear to be “yes”.

The starting rotation features All-Star right-hander Luis Castillo, former Cy Young award winner Robbie Ray, and a formidable bullpen. And with the newly-acquired slugging outfielder Teoscar Hernández to complement Rodriguez, Eugenio Suárez, Ty France and Cal Raleigh, expectations for the M’s are running high.

DraftKings Sportsbook lists Seattle at +1900 to win the World Series. Those odds mean a $100 winning bet on the Mariners to win the World Series would win $1,900 – good for a $2,000 total payout.

TMobile Park

This year’s All-Star weekend will be held in Seattle at T-Mobile Park.
