It’s a new year and another chance to watch two full days of football bowl games at Greeley Avenue Bar & Grill! Our sports viewing center will be hosting North Portland’s football fans when ESPN broadcasts the best teams of the 2018-2019 season during six bowl games. Here’s the lineup for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Monday, December 31st
Military Bowl (9AM)
The Virginia Tech Hokies (6-6) go up against the Cincinnati Bearcats (10-2) at RFK Field in Annapolis, Virginia. After a comeback against their home state rival Virginia, the Hokies have achieved the longest active streak in the country and are now bowling for the 26th year in a row. However, the Bearcats, while not offering much in offense, have a great defense that can boast a Power 5 win against UCLA, predicting a great game to watch at this year’s Military Bowl.
Liberty Bowl (12:45AM)
The Oklahoma State Cowboys (6-6) take on the Missouri Tigers (8-4) in the 60th Liberty Bowl. It’s the third showing at the Liberty Bowl for the Tigers, but that doesn’t mean a win is a sure thing for Missouri. These are two of the most powerful offensive teams, with the Cowboys ranking in the Top 15 nationally in scoring offense, total offense and passing offense.
Gator Bowl (4:30PM)
The Texas A&M Aggies (8-4) and the North Carolina State Wolfpack (9-3) will fight it out at the Gator Bowl in TIAA Bank Field. These are two teams that have never played each other and it will be interesting to see if the Aggies’ running game can take the title, something that experts are strongly predicting.
Tuesday, January 1, 2019
Fiesta Bowl (10AM)
The Louisiana State University Tigers roar into the game against the University of Central Florida Knights in the 48th edition of the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. Both teams are still in the top ten positions in the rankings, making their match-up one of the most predictable one in the league and a surefire competitive game to watch.
Rose Bowl (2PM)
Ohio State (7-7) v. Washington Huskies (7-6-1) will be one of the most watched bowl games this year. This is the 15th Rose Bowl appearance for both teams, where the Buckeyes have a 8-3 history against the Huskies, this year’s Cinderella team.
Sugar Bowl (5:30PM)
The final bowl game of the day broadcast on ESPN sees the Texas Longhorns v. the Georgia Bulldogs in the New Orleans Superdome. Texas has been working hard to rebuild their team after nearly a decade of less than impressive performances, while Georgia has not been able to live up the hype they received this year. Combine these two factors and the winner is still unpredictable.
Join us on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day for the NCAA football in two days of bowl games!
