Saddle up, cowboys! Because Greeley Grindhouse is riding the range straight to Italy where Lee Van Cleef and his ragtag collection of rough riders are waiting to take you on a spaghetti western adventure.
It may not be high noon but Greeley Avenue Bar & Grill will be serving up a big bowl of spaghetti when we bring the gritty greatness of the spaghetti western to our big screen with the August movie, The Grand Duel. Just like the six-shooters strapped to his hip, Lee Van Cleef is loaded for action as Sheriff Clayton in this Italian flick directed by Giancarlo Santi, the assistant director of The Good, the Bad an the Ugly. The film follows the sheriff’s attempt to help clear the name of a young man accused of killing the father of a powerful family, and you can bet there’ll be a showdown in the dusty streets with close-ups of Van Cleef’s sharp features and piercing eyes.
This month’s feature was an “owner’s pick” from Greeley’s own Jon Batcheller, who knows his love of a good gun battle is shared by the Greeley Grindhouse crowd. “Who doesn’t love a good showdown?” says Batcheller, “Lots of action and gun-play, you can’t go wrong with that combination.”
Join Greeley Avenue Bar & Grill for a night of high adventure with Lee Van Cleef, host Mac Bell, and the Greeley Grindhouse showing of The Grand Duel on Thursday night, August 27 at 7pm. We’ll be auctioning off another great poster by Portland graphic artist, Edward Kersh and the bar will be serving up more than just your typical sarsaparilla for our crowd of rowdies.
